Automation Bias

The tendency of humans to over-rely on automated systems and AI recommendations, sometimes ignoring contradictory information from other sources or their own judgment.

The tendency to blindly trust what the computer says. When GPS says "turn right" into a lake, most people hesitate; but in many AI scenarios, people follow the AI's recommendation without questioning it.

Automation bias is a significant governance risk. If employees blindly follow AI recommendations, the value of human oversight is lost. Your governance framework should include training and process design that encourages critical evaluation of AI outputs.
